Sign my e-petition!
Sign my e-petition! Let's see if we can get 100,000 signatures and get MPs forced to discuss this.
Create an English First Minister, Government and Parliament.
Responsible department: Cabinet Office
"We, the undersigned, demand immediate legislation to call a referendum of the Sovereign People of England, to take place on or before the date of the Independence Referendum in Scotland. This Referendum must seek the Mandate of the English Nation to create an English Parliament, with a First Minister and Government for England, with at least the same powers as the Scottish ones."

Have signed the petition so that makes it 34 votes, Robin. Unfortunately, there already seem to be other petitions there asking for an English parliament which will add to the confusion - and they don't seem to be thriving thus far. Still must remain optimistic, eh?

ReplyDeleteEngland for the English none of this British of UK crap good luck
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Boo62. We should put ourselves first for a change and not be hindered by pandering to outsiders' 'needs'.
ReplyDeleteI found that the link to the petition did not work and so pasted the link into my browser address bar. May be worth putting right?
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the point of a petition like this is not its ostensible purpose but as part of a much longer struggle for position. First of all people need to start thinking in terms of their English history, identity and future, as the basis for political action. Obviously, despite all that has happened in recent decades, there are still great subterranean reserves of national feeling, the problem is to draw them out and harness them to political action. Anything that causes people to start thinking English consciously is a good thing.
The problem is that a poor response to calls for an English Parliament are noted and used as an indication that we English are not bothered about the issue.

Sometimes I wonder why the English are so upset about a referendum in Scotland. I am Norwegian and we have had quite a lot of referendums. We voted twice to leave unions – first in 1814 to leave a 500 year "marriage" with Denmark and then in 1905 to break up with Sweden. The last one nearly ended with war, but didn't.
Then, of course, we were about to be seduced by the wonders of EU and along came a new offer to join a union again (Do politicians never learn?). But a referendum in 1973 turned down the offer, though it was a close call (51/49). In 1994, after years of negotiations with EU and one of the most generous treaties the world has ever seen, the government tried again.
The Norwegian "unionists" went on in the same way as Westminster is doing to Scotland ,threats, smearing and doomsday scenarios. We were all to live in misery and agony, homeless, unemployed and penningless, at the frozen fringes of Europe.
Norway said no, the unionists suffered in silence and businesses remained in Norway instead of flagging out to Bonga Bonga and elsewhere. Armaggedon did not happen,we got access to the free market, kept full national control over natural resources-fish,oil/gas and renewable enegy – and independence seems to work quite well.
It might work differently for Scotland, but it is hard – at least for a Norwegian- to understand why Scotland should remain in a union that does not work and never has. EU would be most happy to keep independent Scotland as member, while no body would cry to see UK leave the EU and establish a banana republic around City of London.
But the most important benefit with independence- freedom to make your own choices. There is nothing like it- go for it and welcome to the society of free and independent nations.
Most English have no problem with Scotland having a refurendum. During recent opinion polls more people in England want Scotland to have independance than in Scotland. Can't wait for them to get independance.

I would gladly sign it as we celebrate St.Georges Day every year for the last 12 years with everyone wearing Red and white or England T.Shirts and we play English music and eat a Cake made by Jean draped in a St.Georges Flag made of Icing, our friends and family are all invited to join in the celebrations whatever day of the week it is each year, on the 23rd of April.

ReplyDeleteLet's get this Country sorted.....
ReplyDeleteNo the link does not work so I had to go into hm gov uk e-petitions and search under English Parliament. That is how I doscovered that there is another petition for an English parliament. Robin's has now garnered 101 votes but the other is up to 4,000 plus. It would be nice to think that both petitions would get over 100,000 signatures and then they will take note - or will they?!! I signed the one about the population not reaching 70m - which has now got nearly 140,000 signatures; but is anything happening? I just got a reply from hm gov telling me about the wonderful immigration controls they have put in place to stop this happening - which it won't. The elephant is already in the room and has reached the size of the Hindenburg. I don't think it will just explode and disappear in the same way though!!

ReplyDeleteEngland for the English -
yes please
ReplyDeletefingers crossed we`ll get the day of to celebrate being english and proud of it
ReplyDeleteIn Scotland we see it as you have Westminster as your parliament and we are just an after thought, now that we other nations in this unfair union have got some of our power back England cries, its not fair,we said that for 300 years, and now for 15 years the tables turn and all we see is sour grapes and crocodile tears.
DeleteAusrtalia day is a bank holiday, independance day is a bank holiday in fact most places have a national day with accompanying day off why shouldn't St Georges day be a bank holiday, its not right that it isnt
ReplyDeleteA Scot fighting for greater powers and independence for Scotland is VERY happy to sign your e-Petition. It is time for England to regain its sense of nationhood, to decide on what is best for its citizens and to regain some manner of control on the decision making.
ReplyDeleteMy fellow countrymen who vote at Westminster in business that has nothing to do with them nor their constituents are an outright abhorrent affront to democracy. They make me sick.
Good luck in your campaign.
p.s. Well played yesterday at Murrayfield. It was very painful for us to watch up here in Scotland.
I hope that this can happen.Should have happened years ago
ReplyDeleteYes Please
ReplyDeletePlease make this happen

Best wishes to you from a Scot, who has just signed your petition. It's an obvious anomaly that England does not have it's own Parliament, following devolution of powers to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and quite sad that there has to be an e-petition to raise this issue: one has to wonder why your politicians are not taking this forward as a serious concern in its own right and under their own steam... I agree with a couple of comments already made: the first is that, as a Scot, I regard Westminster as primarily an English Parliament - even though it is supposed to represent the whole of the UK. I did so even prior to devolution as decisions always seem to be taken with the best interests of England at heart (or, to be more specific, the interests of London and the south-east of England), regardless of the effects these decisions have on the other three nations of the Union (and, indeed, the north of England). Perhaps that is why you don't have an English Parliament through a process of devolution: your politicians simply don't regard it as necessary because you already have one..? The second thing is that it is utterly, utterly ridiculous for Scottish MPs (excluding those from the SNP, who only vote on "English" matters where there are consequences for Scots) and, indeed, Welsh and Northern Irish MPs to vote on matters that are "purely" English. It's time (over-due) that you had a Parliament that controls the devolved issues, in the way that our Parliament and the Assemblies of Wales and Northern Ireland, control theirs. Wishing you every success in your campaign.

ReplyDeletePlease - this can happen - lets get it going .
Good idea but maybe bad timing. You are not going to get
ReplyDelete100,000 different people visiting this blog and signing
for a little while yet. The petition needs to 'appear'
in a few more places to have a chance.
Let's go for it, we have nothing to lose but Traitors and Parasites
ReplyDeleteI am a bit confused by the comments by our Norwegian friend. Alex Salmond and the EU would love Scotland to remain in the EU once independent and even be in the euro. But if is our Norwegian friend suggesting this? Surely an independent Scotland would be better off like Norway, free of any union and out of the EU and definitely not in the euro, better with the Norwegian krona perhaps. What has he got against England. Surely the Norwegians send us a Christmas tree for Trafalgar Square each year because we did so much to help them during the War. And why should England fare so much worse out of the EU than Scotland. As Robin has shown, we will have oil as well and shale oil etc. And if Norway is so pleased to be outside the EU why were they so barmy as to sign up to Schengen and get all the world's dross as well?
ReplyDeleteAnd about time this should happen
ReplyDeleteIt is not that simple for Scotland to withdraw from Union. They actually have to apply to the EU as an independent state. It is not an automatic process. Meanwhile England would carry on without carrying the Scots under our financial wing.
ReplyDeleteEngland is important, St Georges Day is for the English...be proud !!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am British and want to keep it that way!!!! Why should we change our ways and country for others!!! SHAME on you who want to!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is all very well signing all these petitions to get the MPs to debate this issue and other English issues, what you should be doing as a party right now is to start campaigning for the next election, the 3 main parties have let us down now for so long, so this is the time parties such as English Democrats should be using this to there advantage, you should be doing more TV more Newspapers more media coverage. I believe in the English Democrats i support English Democrats I vote English Democrats, but will they ever truly stand up and be counted. Now is the time for change in England so come on and stand up and give something the the voters that don't trust the main 3 parties, something to vote for...
ReplyDeleteSTOP MOANING ABOUT IT AND JUST DO IT....I AM BRITISH AND WISH TO CELEBRATE OUR DAY....!!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE MY COUNTRY AND NATANALITY I LOVE BEING ENGLISH WHERE THE BEST IN THE WORLD WERE NOUMBER 1 ANS ALLWAYS WILL BE may I remind you of are achevements 3 Fiffa World Cup 2 West Auckland Town x2 and World Wars and two thirds of the eurth are EMPIRE
ReplyDeleteI'm British and proud to be, and I think it's time to give Britain back to the British and not let other people run OUR COUNTRY
ReplyDeleteI feel that we are on a roll and begining to fight back against those who use political correctness to attack our heritage. I'm British and proud of it.
ReplyDeleteI am English and very proud to be so. We need to stand up for our rights, and not be hammered by those who wish to crush us! It is perfectly obvious we should have our own Parliament, and ensure there are only English representatives in it, rather than other nationalities who seem to take over. I have no problem with the Scots going their own way, they will be the losers not us, but they should go the way they wish, that is what democracy is all about.
ReplyDeleteWe need to speak up for England - while we still have her. We're losing our identity and our country.
ReplyDeleteet's become a strong country again. We need our own parliament and only those who care for the English.
ReplyDeleteTo have been born an Englishman is to have won first prize in the lottery of life. Let's make sure we keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteLET THE TRUE BRITS HAVE THERE DAY AND FLY THE FLAG AS THEY NEED TO,ON THIS DAY WITHOUT INSULTING CERTON PEOPLE
