There is massive public support for this issue but we need your signature on our petition to help build up pressure on the politicians to give the English the same rights as the Scots, Irish and Welsh nations enjoy to celebrate their Patron Saints’ Days.
This is a great campaign, let's all give it our full support!

Absolutely! It is certainly the case that more and more towns and villages are celebrating St George's Day of their own accord - which is as it should be. But it would be good if the day itself could be made an official holiday, without officialdom taking over, or deciding just what St George's Day should 'mean'.
ReplyDeleteDoes the EDP support the petition on the HM Govt. e-petition website? I appreciate it was started by a political rival but the cause is paramount here. Encourage your members to sign this petition too - http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/78
